This is the first of many planned exhibitions between the two organizations, according to an Instagram post.

The Laid Bare exhibit will showcase the work of Wes Coke, a figurative oil painter with a studio practice based in Fort Worth who grew up in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.

Since working as a professional artist starting in 2018, he has won the Thistlethwaite Family Award in 2023, the 2024 Sam and Priscilla McCall Award, and the Top Prize for the Onderdonk Purchase Award from San Antonio Art League and Museum, according to his website.

With a background in bronze sculpture studies from the University of North Texas, Coke’s artistic journey shifted from an emphasis on three-dimensional work to painting in 2020.

According to his artist statement, the work is rooted in the human figure exploring how the body holds memories, carries tension, how it reveals and withholds during the in-between moments of being.

The gallery will be on display from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m at 919 Morrell Ave. All acquired works will be available to take home the same day.
