Along with the neighborhood’s Oak Cliff Brewing Co. and Jaquval, Smittox will be the third operational brewery in Oak Cliff when it opens.

It’s also one of the first Black-owned breweries in North Texas, according to an Instagram post. Smith, owner and director of brewery operations, said he started working on the business plan in late 2018. With construction underway, he hopes to open Smittox in just a few months’ time.

“I would love to shoot for a fall opening,” he said. “Unfortunately, it’s extremely hard to say for sure.”

Smittox just began construction efforts recently, Smith said.

“Our [general contractor] is doing his best to get the build-out done quickly, but we still have to wait on inspections,” he said. “Fingers crossed!”

The new brewery will be located just north of the Dallas Zoo and right next to Southern Gateway Park.

“We are super excited to be a part of the Oak Cliff community,” Smith said. “The love the area has shown us so far has been extremely heartwarming, and we just want to be good business partners. I can’t wait to share our love of craft beer and hip-hop with everyone.”

Smittox will be located at 930 E. Clarendon Drive.
