The council authorized a professional services contract with the Dallas-based, Hispanic-owned architectural firm GSR Andrade Architects, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $700,020.

The firm will provide architectural and engineering services for the schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding and negotiation, and construction administration for the renovation of the recreation center.

At Wednesday’s council meeting, District 1 Council member Chad West said that the Martin Weiss Recreation Center was a number one priority for most people within his district during bond discussions.

β€œIt is an item that has been neglected – this rec center – for decades, and our West Oak Cliff neighbors are very eager to see this move forward,” West said. β€œIt’s a beloved neighborhood treasure for kids, seniors, and everyone in between.”
