The North Central Texas Council of Governments and the Texas Department of Transportation say it will cost $30 million to build a deck park over Interstate 35 as part of the Southern Gateway plan to reconstruct parts of I-35 and Highway 67.
The council of governments’ Regional Transportation Council approved the funding plan last week. It had been reported previously that the deck park would cost $50 million, but Texas Department of Transportation DFW spokesman Tony Hartzel confirmed it will cost $30 million.
$20 million will come from the council, and $10 million will come from the City of Dallas or private funding. The overall Southern Gateway project will cost about $656 million.
