“Matt Hillyer is Dallas music,” I wrote, just over a year ago for the Oak Cliff Advocate in March 2023. He released Glorieta, his first solo album in nine years, just a week before.
Only 15 months later, Hillyer is back with another album. Bright Skyline is out on all streaming platforms today. The eleven-song LP is a who’s who of Dallas country, featuring songs co-written by Max Stalling, pedal steel from Lloyd Maines and producer John Pedigo at the helm.
Tomorrow night, Hillyer takes the stage at the Kessler Theater for the Bright Skyline release party. Cory Cross and The Burden are set to open up the night. Doors at 7, music at 8 p.m. Tickets are available via PreKindle.
