“DFW Pets Are Family Day,” anticipates distributing thousands of pounds of dog and cat food and providing vaccines and microchips to hundreds of families and their pets with support from CUDDLY, a mission-driven company-centered around the needs of rescued animals and the community-focused programs that sustain them.

DFW Pets Are Family Day will be Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at La Academia de Estrellas (4680 W Kiest Blvd, Dallas, 75236), rain or shine.

According to a recent U.S. Department of Agriculture survey, Texas is the second-most food-insecure state in the nation. In Dallas County, community food insecurity is at 13.1 percent, an issue that impacts not only people, but pets as well, and often results in families making difficult decisions.

The number of pets surrendered to Dallas Animal Services (DAS) as of July 31, 2024 —more than 3,500 — has more than doubled from last year’s July 31 number of surrendered pets.

Partner organizations, Dallas Pets Alive!, The Love Pit, Operation Kindness and SPCA of Texas work closely with CUDDLY to ensure items are collected to meet the needs of our communities. Donors can support DFW Pets Are Family via this wish list for the event.
