Both bars come from Feargal McKinney, an Irishman who moved to from Dublin to Dallas decades ago who seeks to bring a little bit of his hometown to Texas.

The Old Monk, which has a location on Henderson Avenue in Dallas, will open in October. It will be the pub’s first expansion in its quarter-century existence in Dallas.

The fish and chips, mussels and cheese board are some of the Monk’s bestsellers. The menu will stay the same as on Henderson Avenue.

“We intend to have the same menu as Monk and build the space out and decorate as closely as we can to the Henderson pub,” McKinney told the Advocate in March. “More importantly than the appearance, I hope to create a neighborhood pub that is in keeping with the neighborhood it is in and can be around for decades.”

The second bar is Kilmac’s, a small watering hole next door to The Old Monk in Oak Cliff. It’ll have a huge backyard and is expected to open in 2025.

The Old Monk in Oak Cliff will be at 810 W. Davis St., while the neighboring Kilmac’s is expected to open at 814 W. Davis St.
