According to owner Feargal McKinney, plans are tentatively in place for an October opening of Old Monk Oak Cliff. The bar will open in the 810 W. Davis St. space that formerly housed a F45 Training gym.

Construction on the building has been underway for over a month.

“We intend to have the same menu as Monk and build the space out and decorate as closely as we can to the Henderson pub,” McKinney said. “More importantly than the appearance, I hope to create a neighborhood pub that is in keeping with the neighborhood it is in and can be around for decades.”

McKinney owns a trifecta of pubs along the Henderson Avenue stretch known for weekend nights out. The Skellig and Spider Murphys opened in 2015 and 2021, respectively.

Neighborhood resident Katie Arterburn has been the general manager of the Old Monk for 12 years and will move to the Oak Cliff location as manager and partner.

“Monk is 26-years-old fyi, not exactly a blistering expansion schedule,” McKinney said. “But I am excited to do this, looking forward to getting to know a new area and new neighbors.”
