Norma’s Cafe will celebrate Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day on Oct. 23 by donating all proceeds from sales of its chicken fried steak that day to Susan G. Komen in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Norma’s Cafe created the official Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day over a decade ago with the State of Texas House of Representatives and the City of Dallas.
“We are passionate about chicken fried steak and the comfort it brings to so many,” said Ed Murph, owner of Norma’s Cafe. “In addition to sharing this southern gem with customers, we are especially proud to support Susan G. Komen and the important work they are doing to find a cure for breast cancer.”
The restaurant will offer its award-winning chicken fried steak, smothered with gravy, for the 1950s roll-back price of $1.85 plus tax on Oct. 23.
To date, Komen has invested nearly $3.6 billion in groundbreaking research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs in more than 60 countries. Due to investments in research, 19 new drugs for breast cancer were approved in the past decade
“At Susan G. Komen we are committed to helping improve the lives of people in the communities where we live and work,” said Sofia Olivarez, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen North Texas. “Through your donation, we are able to help support individuals in our community who are facing breast cancer. The fight against breast cancer needs all of us.”
