Kimball (22-5) is the state and area’s No. 1 team in Class 4A, and closed district play on a high note after a 73-68 win over rival Carter. The program went 14-0 in District 11-4A and was set to play Faith Family on Friday in a highly anticipated game to close the regular season. That game was canceled to “preserve the health of Kimball’s injured players” ahead of their first playoff game.

Kimball will face Alvarado tomorrow at 7 p.m. in its 4A Division I first-round playoff game in Waxahachie.

Alvarado has a 17-14 record and went 6-6 in district play.
