Jamarion Phillips, a 3-star LB from South Oak Cliff with 29 offers, announced that he has committed to the Baylor Bears.
South Oak Cliff has reachedĀ four consecutive state championship games and has a talented senior class set for next season. Three of those rising seniors are already headed to Power Four schools.
Three-star SOC linebacker Jamarion Phillips committed to Baylor Tuesday. Phillips (6-1, 220) was rated the 30th-best player in the Dallas area and the 79th-best linebacker in the nation in the Class of 2026. He chose Baylor from a list of 29 offers, including defending national champion Ohio State and national runner-up Notre Dame.
Phillips was a first-team all-area selectionĀ as a sophomore in 2023 when he had a breakout season with 95 tackles (22 for loss) and 14 sacks.Ā He was also a first-team all-area honor last season and was the District 5-5A Division II defensive MVP after recording 90 tackles, 38 assists, 14 tackles for loss, three sacks and five blocked kicks.
South Oak Cliffās other Power Four commitments are from offensive lineman Cortavious Tisaby (Arizona State) and defensive back Marcell Gipson (Clemson).
Phillips is the third Dallas-area player to commit to Baylor for the Class of 2026 as he joins Argyle Liberty Christian quarterback Quinn Murphy and Mesquite Horn offensive lineman Kole Seaton.
