Plan carefully, Oak Cliff, because October is going to be huge

Tonight, the Belmont Hotel is showing the fourth flick in its fall movie night series — "Spies Like Us." It’s not expexted to rain, and it’s sweater weather. Bring a blanket and maybe some mosquito spray, and chill out on the grass by the pool.

Thursday is the monthly First Thursday party in the Bishop Arts District. And there’s a lot going on. Fete-ish is having breast cancer awareness night with "Save the Ta-tas" T-shirts and pink drinks from 7-10 p.m. Zola’s is having wine and sales every hour. Casa Blanca has $5 enchilada plates. Green Pet is debuting Halloween costumes. And ONLi has live music.

October also brings us Cyclesomatic, Eno’s Oktoberfest, Make’s Urban Bazaar, the grand opening of Cliff Notes Prolonged Media and more. Check back tomorrow for a list of this weekend’s events.

How could you leave out one of the biggest October events: the Old Oak Cliff Conservation Leagues’ Fall Tour of Homes ?! This will be the 35th year the Tour has taken place, showcasing some of the best of Oak Cliff to the rest of the world.

Between 1500 and 2000 people are expected to attend, visiting 12 homes in 9 neighborhoods throughout Oak Cliff. The money raised from the Tour goes back into the community in the form of the League’s Neighborhood Grant program in the Spring.

The Tour takes place from noon to 6:00 pm, October 10th and 11th. Ticket Central will be at the cool new Kessler Theater, 1230 W. Davis.
