Sergio Kindle, who grew up in Oak Cliff but attended Woodrow Wilson High School, is getting a lot of media attention this week. Kindle and the Texas Longhorns face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the BCS National Championship game Thursday. The New York Times did a story about the defensive end/linebacker’s troubled childhood in Oak Cliff, his DWI as a freshman at UT and a one-car wreck last year that he caused while text messaging. The Times quotes an expert who says Kindle, who is a senior, could be selected among the top ten in this year’s NFL draft.
It’s pretty thorough. But clever Kate Hairopoulos today reported this tear-jerker about why Kindle chose UT.
