OC Smokehouse, the former Luckie’s, is closed

OC Smokehouse, on Davis at Clinton, was locked and boarded up Thursday night.

The barbecue restaurant opened in a converted gas station as Luckie’s Smokehouse in February, the same month Lockhart Smokehouse opened a few blocks away.

The owners sued each other this summer, and Luckie’s closed for awhile, but owner Naht Ngo reopened as OC Smokehouse soon after, with basically the same menu.

Oh no! Where am I supposed to get the best fried pickles now?  Great atmosphere felt like home.  Fingers crossed it re-opens.

Their food was good.  Will really miss the patio and smoked chicken salad.  It seems the place was better once Ngo took over.  Sad to see OC establishments not make it.

rude people, would not wait on me, took my $$ elsewhere…good riddens

I live really close to the Kessler and have rarely had a problem with people from there or from the barbecue place, though people park in front of my house and on the side all the time.  I did catch a man peeing in my yard one time, and scared the devil out of him, hollering at him from my front porch.

Crappy food and crappy service. They couldn’t even get the order right when the place was half empty which was a lot of the time.

Hey thank you for not parking in front my home. I hate the Kessler does not have enough parking because I have many strangers parking in front my house. In addition, many come out drunk screaming and they scare my daughter in the weekends. Something needs to change because others do not know how to respect the neighborhood.

R.I.P. OC Smokehouse. My girlfriend and i recently tried OC Smokehouse for the first time two weeks ago upon recommendation  from her parents. The quality of the meat ( we had pulled pork & brisket ) was first rate and the sides were fresh and delicious ( we had cream corn and macaroni). The food was served piping hot and in a timely manner ( being that the place was empty). However, this was not your typical dining experience… As we dined we noticed a verbal conflict between the manager and a waitress from the restaurant occurring right outside the restaurant window in the customer parking lot. Our waiter noticed our preoccupation and concern  with the altercation once the male ( later to be identified as the manager) began trying to intimidate the female by slamming her car door multiple times. Information from the staff informed us that, ” the two were dating and the woman had found out that the manager had taken out her friend to lunch while she was at class.” GOOD FOOD + FREE ENTERTAINMENT , what could have gone wrong?

The service was slow, food was Ok. I’ll drive south to Elmwood for the best kept secret in town. Locals only.

Got tired of not having a place to park when there was a show at the Kessler and street parking was gone.  I wouldn’t want parking in front of my house from a nearby business, so I won’t park in front of someone else’s house just because a business doesn’t provide enough parking for their own customers and employees.  Too far to walk and bike.

Loved the patio, but the food unremarkable at best.

Lot’s of suspicious activity in there the few times I went.
