Three things for Thursday: Lawns, texting, Deep Ellum

water_glass_thumb.jpg• The city will hold a free water conservation seminar at 2 p.m. Feb. 2 at Richland College. Given that we’re still drought-stricken, it’s surprisingly timely. Reservations are required.

The Observer reports that a bill has been introduced in the Legislature to ban texting while driving, and includes an intriguing discussion about whether such bans work. One study suggests not, though it seems flawed and common sense would dictate that a ban would do at least a little good.

Channel 8 hints at the rebirth of Deep Ellum, noting that developer Scott Rohrman has purchased 32 empty sites over the past three months.
