Beckley Club Estates wins $7,650 to renovate medians

BCmedianBeckley Club Estates won a $7,650 grant from Mayor Mike Rawlings’ Grow South Initiative to renovate neighborhood medians.

Neighborhood association president Trey Gray says the six medians were part of the neighborhood’s original 1920 design, but they have been neglected over the decades and now contain weeds and dead plants.

The neighborhood association will use the money to hire a landscape architect and pay for plants and supplies.

Gray says the neighborhood association has organized fundraisers over the past few years and now has enough money in the bank to renovate the neighborhood’s original stone gates at Beckley as well.
