The Dallas Police Department’s Youth Outreach Unit (YOU) aims to improve relationships between Dallas Police officers and young people. “Studies have shown that if a young person respects a police officer on the ball field, gym, or classroom, the youth will likely come to respect the laws that police officers enforce,” according to Dallas police public information officers. “Such respect is beneficial to the youth, the police officer, the neighborhood, and the business community.”

The YOU this week launched a program called Stuff the Squad Car in an effort to collect through donations school supplies for area students.
