The Kiest Park Community Group needs to raise money for projects, including its ongoing restoration of the historic Kiest Park tree groves.
So the group is selling Oak Cliff-centric T-shirts. On the front, they read “Oak Cliff Proud,” and on the back, “Best Neighbor’hood’ in Dallas.” They cost $15-$17 and are available in several colors.
The Kiest Park tree groves originally were planted starting in 1933; it had as many as 3,000 trees. Neighborhood residents Judy Brooks and her husband, Charlie, spearheaded an effort to replant the groves in 2013. They so far have planted about 150 trees.
