Oak Cliff-based artist Toni Martin opens a pop-up exhibit at Random Art Gallery Thursday, Nov. 12 from 7-10 p.m. The show, “Beyond the Paint,” features portraits of 12 Dallas women who have experienced hardship. The event benefits Genesis Women’s Shelter.

Dark-fiction authors read their work during Noir at the Bar at The Wild Detectives starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12.

Poets on X+ welcomes Josh Wier from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Lucky Dog Books.
