Which means that you won’t able to go to a rec center, call water customer service, use a cultural center, or get a building permit. The full list is here. Most offices are also closed Monday for Labor Day. And, just in case you wondered why the city was doing it, here’s the official explanation:

“As one of many initiatives implemented to address budget challenges, the City of Dallas is implementing a mandatory furlough program. The furlough program is in response to significant reductions in the City’s revenue as a result of the nation’s economic downturn.  To maximize the energy and personnel cost savings, the City has scheduled furlough days to coincide with holiday weekends.”
