Yesterday, the Dallas Business Journal reported that DISD Supt. Michael Hinojosa would resign today. Turns out the DBJ jumped the gun: Hinojosa told the DMN today he’s not resigning, he’s happy with his job at DISD, but that he is being considered for an “intriguing” job running the Las Vegas school district. Vegas is expected to list three finalists for its job today, and although no one is sure if Hinojosa is on the finalist list, it seems like a good bet he will be. The Vegas school district is about twice the size of DISD in terms of students (more than 300,000), and if they’re looking for a veteran of big-city school operations and politics, Hinojosa would have to be high on the list.
