On tap in OC: Pep rally, blues and BBQ, Cyclesomatic

DISD starts next week, and it’s 80 degrees out. Let’s talk about what’s going on in the ‘hood this fall.

Go Oak Cliff takes us back to school Sept. 6 with the Rival Rematch Pep Rally at Oddfellows in advance of the Sunset vs. Adamson football game at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7. So start making your tailgating plans.

The annual Blues, Bandits and BBQ festival will be at 715 W. Davis this year, Go Oak Cliff announced Tuesday. That’s the site where Rick Garza is planning a mixed-use development he is now calling Davis Street Market. We like that so much better than the other proposed name, Kings Way. The latter sounds kind of gangster, no? Like Carlito’s Way. Anyway, that’s where the sunflowers were. This year’s Blues, Bandits and BBQ festival is from noon-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. Details coming soon, we hope.

October is huge also because Bike Friendly Oak Cliff is busy planning the fourth Cyclesomatic for that month. Oh, the bicycle love!
