Meet the author of ‘Nickel and Dimed’

Barbara Ehrenreich, the author of Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America, appears at Mountain View College this week.

The book, which was released in 2001, chronicles journalist Ehrenreich’s year-long stint in the world of service work. Starting in 1998, the author took jobs at Walmart, with a house-cleaning service and other low-wage jobs.

She will speak at the college’s performance hall, 4849 W. Illinois Ave., at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13. The event is free and open to the public.
