This weekend: Celebrate nature, comedy show, Pata Negra

Nature-Appreciation_rev (1)The Kessler has a comedy show tonight, May 30, “My Son the Waiter, a Jewish Tragedy,” written and performed by Brad Zimmerman. Paul Thorn performs Friday, and the Singapore Slingers perform Saturday.

Twelve Hills Nature Center celebrates wildflowers, butterflies and birds from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 1. The nature center, at 900 Mary Cliff, will introduce its garden sponsorship program and recognize its first sponsor, Brumley Gardens. Rosemont Elementary School fifth-grade nature leaders also will be honored. There will be refreshments and nature walks.

The Texas Theatre screens a 35-mm print of “Animal House.” Also showing is the Indonesian crime drama “Java Heat.” And Pata Negra presents “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” Saturday.
