The developer that is planning to build 76 new homes in Oak Cliff is asking for the community’s help in naming its development adjacent to Kidd Springs Park.
Austin-based PSW Real Estate has two developments in progress here. One is at 1610 Kings Highway and will have 32 homes. The other, the one they want Cliffites to name, will have 44 homes and is at 901 Cedar Hill.
PSW is asking for name suggestions online. Submitting a name and voting for your favorite name requires a “like” for PSW on Facebook. The winner gets $500 for themselves, and the developer also will donate $500 to the nonprofit of the winner’s choice.
There are a few submissions already, and some are OK, such as Cedar Hill Villas and Spring Heights. And some are noes (Bishop’s Gate sounds like a cemetery and Five Cedars sounds like a drug rehab).
It’s hard to come up with good ones because there are only so many words for “house.” Coming up with terrible names is super easy. Here are mine: The Nests at Kidd Springs, The Cribs in the Cliff, Ducks on the Pond, Bread Crumb Heights, Foie Gras Cove.
