PrintTwo arts events next month will raise funds for Oak Cliff nonprofits.

The first is a 70s-themed silent auction benefiting the Fort Worth Avenue Development Group. The annual event raises funds for public art and other projects on Fort Worth Avenue. Local artists create works made from recycled and repurposed materials, and those pieces are up for grabs in the silent auction.

Tickets to that fundraiser, from 7-11 pm. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Babb Bros. BBQ and Blues, cost $35 and include barbecue, beer and wine. The Texas Rock Association will provide live music.

Turner House hosts its Rising Star exhibition and fundraiser the weekend of Sept. 28-29. Twelve Dallas galleries have nominated an emerging Texas artist who is not yet represented by galleries to be part of the show.

The galleries are: Barry Whistler Gallery, Conduit Gallery, Craighead Green, Cris Worley Fine Arts, David Dike Fine Art, Galleri Urbane, Holly Johnson Gallery, Mary Tomás Studio Gallery, Photographs Do Not Bend, The Reading Room, Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden, and Talley Dunn Gallery.

The fundraiser is from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, with refreshments and a presentation form Barry Whistler on contemporary Texas art. Tickets cost $50 for Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts members and $75 otherwise. The gallery will be free to the public from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29.
