The John F. Kennedy Collection contains more than 11,400 documents, which the city acquired in 1989 from the Dallas Police Department. City archivist John Slate, who lives in Oak Cliff, gives a talk at noon Tuesday, Aug. 13 at the Hall of State in Fair Park.
The illustrated lecture will focus on the contents of the collection as well as anecdotes about how the city acquired the collection, which includes photos, homicide reports, affidavits, witness statements, fingerprint cards and mug shots, newspaper clippings and correspondence.
With the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination coming up in November, Slate says he is inundated with calls and requests from people seeking information from all over the world.
