The Washington Post published an interactive map that breaks down the nation’s wealth and education by zip code. The newspaper used data from the American Community Survey, the U.S. Census and ESRI to compile the map.
And in our neighborhood, it tells quite a story, although perhaps not a surprising one.
Our city’s wealthy and college educated residents mostly live north of the Trinity River.
In the 75208 zip code, 22 percent of adults are college graduates, and the median household income is about $40,000. A bit further south, in 75224, the median income is about $31,000, and about 8 percent are college graduates. A few miles north, in 75205, the median household income is more like $119,000, and 77 percent of adults are college graduates.
