Liz Lanier started a bakery, Joy Macarons, less than a year ago and now sells her delicate French-style cookies at Little D Farmers Market, White Rock Local Market and two coffee shops, Method and Cultivar.
Now Lanier, who has an advertising degree and a background in high-end retail, is planning a permanent shop at 839 W. Davis. It’s the same storefront where she hosted a Joy Macarons pop-up shop during Better Block Quatro in April.
Lanier is from Weatherford, but she and her husband lived in Los Angeles, where she was a manager at the Ralph Lauren store on Rodeo Drive, before moving to our neighborhood four years ago.
“I started baking just because I loved it,” she says. “When I moved to Dallas, I found there weren’t very many places to get good French macarons. So I started making them.”
She had so much fun that she decided to make it a business.
The Joy Macarons storefront is expected to open by the end of the year.
