Driftwood, Victoria’s are closed

Victoria’s Mexican Grill on Willomet at West Davis is closed, and the two-story building is for lease. We liked this place bordering Winnetka Heights and Kings Highway, but it was just one more fish in a sea of Tex-Mex.

photoDriftwood has been closed since Nov. 20, reportedly due to plumbing repairs. Dallas Morning News food critic Leslie Brenner speculates that the place could remain closed as Driftwood’s executive chef Kyle McClelland and owners Sal Jafar and Michael Martensen are busy with their popular new restaurant Proof and Pantry.

a Mexican restaurant has to be very very good to survive in north Oak Cliff. I frequent 5 or 6 long established ones there and frankly, we are fully supplied in this cuisine category.
