La Rondalla, our neighborhood’s free music school for kids, offers a free performance Tuesday from Lebanese trumpeter/political cartoonist, Mazen Kerbaj.
The performance begins at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center.
Kerbaj published a daily cartoon during the bombing of Beirut in 2006 and was one of the first musicians to begin playing totally improvised modern music in the Middle East. He will offer a workshop to La Rondalla students and perform with Oak Cliff’s own internationally renowned free jazz trio, Yells at Eels.
The event is funded by a grant from Jorge Baldor.
