Oak Cliff is getting a disc-golf course.
An 11-hole course is coming to at Founders Park, after a three-year grass-roots effort to that end.
Zac Lytle, who has been pushing for the course since 2012, says he expects it to cost about $10,000. Most of that would go to installing tee pads and the chain-link baskets that serve as “holes.”

The Dallas Parks Foundation in 2014 granted $10,000 to the Lake Cliff Neighborhood Association for a disc-golf course.
Go Oak Cliff raised another $4,000 for a course.
Founders Park is in a fabulous location, off Zang between Colorado Boulevard and the Trinity River, but it is underutilized. In 2013, Founders Park was the site of a rape and an attempted rape.
Lytle and pal Dylan Holt, who has helped him bird-dog the park board for the past year, say having a disc-golf course at Founders Park will make it a safer place. Bringing more “legitimate uses” to the park could deter crime.
“I’m not a disc golf fanatic or anything,” Lytle says. “I just wanted to see the park appreciated and used by more people.”
