Former Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis appears in our neighborhood, for the first time since losing the 2014 gubernatorial election, as part of a women’s conference this month.

The conference, hosted by U.S. Rep. Marc Veasey, will include Q&As on topics affecting women such as wage disparity, lack of affordable childcare, what it means to be a female business owner, and what Congress is doing to answer these concerns.

U.S. Rep Linda Sánchez of California also will appear, along with the senior analyst from the Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau, a local working mother and female business owner.

The free conference is from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Kidd Springs Recreation Center.

Davis was here a year ago on the campaign trail. See our coverage of that visit here.
