Texas troubadour Ray Wylie Hubbard grew up in a house on Eighth at Adams, basically the Bishop Arts District.

Hubbard plays at the Kessler frequently, and he’s on tour now with a show scheduled at Billy Bob’s May 13, plus an Austin performance next week.

When we interviewed him in 2012, he named fellow Adamson High School alumnus Michael Martin Murphey as one of his biggest influences.

Murphey performs two shows at the Kessler next Friday, March 11.

Our Q&A with Hubbard is a quick read. We also followed that up with a little post about Hubbard’s post-high school band, Three Faces West.
