This weekend: ‘Purple Rain,’ art, music and more

Art Fungus, the collective composed mostly of Oak Cliff-based artists, shows art related to experimental band The Residents starting Friday, April 29. The show runs through May 3.

Edwin Holt’s Red Clay Roadhouse Band performs at the Kessler Friday.

The Texas Theatre offers a tribute to Prince Saturday night with a 35-mm screening of “Purple Rain,” followed by a dance party.

Nick Armstrong and the Thieves perform a free show at The Foundry Friday.
