A couple of new shops opened on West Davis at Tyler, in the shopping center with Spinster Records, recently.
Encanto Pops is a cute paleta shop offering a variety of flavors — cucumber lime jalapeño, watermelon and hibiscus, strawberries and cream, and café de olla among them.
Former Richards Group executive Diana Díaz started the shop with her sisters; they learned the craft from an uncle who has a paletería outside of Chicago, reports Culturemap.
DLM Supply, a boutique selling casual menswear, skincare items and gifts, opened there last week.
A couple of events already are planned. A Trask trunk show is from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, with a bourbon and beer tasting from 3-7 p.m. The shop also will host a fundraiser, a bourbon tasting from The Balvenie, Oct. 13 for the Shared Housing Center. A $60 ticket also includes wine, beer and appetizers.
