The Better Block celebrates Octoberfest Friday with a market from 7-11 p.m. at its headquarters in the 700 block of West Davis. The shindig includes German sausages, polka music, beer and local vendors. But wait! There’s more. A lederhosen fun run starts at 8 p.m. The free run is “a quick dash through the neighborhood,” open to all levels of fitness.
Rock the Cliff, a 5k run at Lake Cliff Park, starts at 8 a.m. Saturday. It’s the main fundraiser for Bison Giving Back, a nonprofit that raises scholarship money for Oak Cliff high school graduates.
Mur performs as part of an album release at the Kessler Saturday, with special guest Shallow Reign.
The Texas Theatre opens the Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds concert film “One More Time with Feeling” Thursday night. It also shows Saturday and Sunday.
