New favorite: Cherry fizz at Davis Street Espresso

Here is something new and refreshing.

It’s water kefir, which is fermented water. It’s sort of like kombucha, except kombucha starts with tea and sugar, and kefir starts with water and sugar. It is fermented but is not alcoholic. And it’s caffeine free.

“We took a fermentation class, and we’re all really into fermentation now,” says Jessica Beeman of Davis Street Espresso.

The drink is called “cherry fizz,” and Beeman describes it as naturally fermented soda. It’s bright and refreshing but not too sweet.
