Luis Carlos Guevara, 15, was sitting with a friend in a car in the 600 block of Denley Drive at about 11:30 a.m., waiting to sell some earbuds when a brown Dodge Caravan pulled up.

The shooter, who a witness described as a 13-year-old, opened fire and struck Guevara, who died later at the hospital. The friend sped off but crashed into a utility pole. The suspected shooter and two companions, described as 13 and 20 years old, left the scene.

Guevara was a student at Adamson High School, and a crowd-funding page for his funeral says he was selling his earbuds so that he could go to Six Flags with his friends.

The shooting happened near the city-owned Eloise Lundy Recreation Center, and Councilwoman Carolyn King Arnold responded:

“Right now, we do have some high numbers in terms of offenses and deaths and murders,” Arnold told WFAA. “And it is alarming. But my goal is to make sure that as public servants, along with community leaders, that we begin to work closer with the police department so that we can develop public safety plans so that we all feel safe in our communities.”

Police are still searching for the suspects. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact Detective Noe Camacho at 214.671.3682 or noe.camacho@dallascityhall.com.
