A couple of Austin-based developers have plans to remake the corner of West Commerce Street and Beckley Avenue with apartments and retail space.

The West Commerce Gateway will have 314 apartments four stories high, 12,700 square feet of space for storefronts and seven small offices, according to the Dallas Morning News. Dallas-based firm GFF Architects designed project.

The apartments will front West Commerce at Langford. And the retail components will be positioned at the southwest corner of Commerce and Beckley.

Here’s how GFF describes the design:

The architecture and material palette are reminiscent of West Dallas’s industrial history but the implementation is done with a modern approach. Brick detailing, alternating window patterns, and facade indentations provide the modern building with rich architectural texture while meeting the stringent zoning requirements of the site; additionally, the roof forms of the restaurant and retail buildings draw inspiration from historic structures in the immediate West Dallas area

The buildings currently are under construction and could be finished in 2021.
