Raising Oak Cliff, the nonprofit that started about a year ago, donated $6,000 to neighborhood schools recently.

They awarded five grants:

  • Sunset High School/Leadership Forward, mentoring program: $1,000

  • Adamson High School/Leadership Forward, mentoring program: $1,000

  • Sidney Lanier, band repair kit: $728

  • George Peabody Elementary, outdoor art project: $472.27

The nonprofit splintered off from the Rosemont Early Childhood PTA because some parents in that group wanted to raise money for schools besides Rosemont Elementary.
