The owners of the Wild Detectives started making weekly comics about “bookish nerds” to promote their business in 2016.
The compiled the comics into a book, which sold out of its first printing in their home country, Spain.
The book, Reading Quirks, was published in English and is now available.
Andrés de la Casas Huertas and Javier García del Moral wrote the book’s 72 four-panel comics. And artist Laura Pacheco illustrated it.
Even Dallas’ own Ben Fountain, author of Beautiful Country Burn Again, wrote an endorsement for it: “Reading Quirks is a work of nonfiction. You have in your hands an anthropological study of a strange and far-ranging human tribe, a tribe that gets from the reading of books the kind of happiness that other people derive from wrestling alligators.”
The hardback book costs $20.
