Dallas ISD put two Oak Cliff schools on lockdown Wednesday morning after an Adamson High School student was shot at an apartment complex adjacent to the school.

The student is recovering from a non life-threatening injury, and police are investigating.

The Adamson student recently transferred to DISD from Arlington, according to a source within the district who declined to be identified. He was planning to fight a group of kids, and he’d asked his friends from Arlington to back him up, according to the source.

The shooting happened at about 9:30 a.m., and the lockdown on Adamson and nearby Hector P. Garcia Middle School were lifted by about 11 a.m.

No suspect has been arrested.
