The Sunset High School girls swim team started the season with four athletes.
The team grew to 20 swimmers, many of whom had never swum competitively before. But they won the district championship, “by a landslide” on Jan. 17, coach Keenan Fogelberg says.
They’re now headed to the regional meet Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
The team went undefeated all season. At the district meet, they won eight gold medals, five silver and one bronze. Sunset swimmer Victoria Coleman was named female swimmer of the meet.
The Carter High School boys swim team also won the district championship and will compete at regionals this weekend.
