There’s a new bookshop in Oak Cliff.
Poets Oak Cliff quietly opened this weekend across the street from Lockhart Barbecue, in a space that previously held a hat store.
Marco Cavazos, a writer who also owns the adjacent store, opened the store with business partners Kelsi Cavazos and Russell Hargraves. They also own the adjacent Cigar Art together.
They originally envisioned a writers space, and that evolved into a book store with a focus on poetry.
“Our vision is to be a community bookshop,” Hargraves says. “We’re not looking for a huge footprint or a giant online presence. We’re just looking to amplify Oak Cliff’s literary culture, while doing something we love.”
