About 70% of the school’s staff and students live in the neighborhood. The school sent out a map of their 3-mile parade route, which passed many students’ homes, and they asked those who live elsewhere to post up along the route for waving and cheers.

The school started online learning March 25. Lessons and work assignments are sent to parents the evening before, and they partner with local businesses for some of their curriculum, including Oil and Cotton, Oak Cliff Dance and Mad Science, says the school’s director of advancement Bruce Begor. After the school closed, they donated their entire supply of hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes to Baylor University Medical Center.
