As of August 13, Dallas reported 641 additional positive cases of coronavirus and 13 additional deaths, bringing the total confirmed case count in Dallas County to 56,228, including 807 confirmed deaths. Read the full report here.

An additional 109 probable cases of COVID-19 were reported, bringing the total probable case count in Dallas to 2,469, including 7 probable deaths from COVID-19. More than 47% of reported probable cases are in the age group 18-40 and 4% of probable cases are in adults over the age of 65. According to the Centers for Disease Prevention, a probable case is a person who meets both “clinical criteria and epidemiologic evidence with no confirmatory laboratory testing performed for COVID-19.”

Since July 1, over 2,833 children have been diagnosed since coronavirus. Sixty-five children have been hospitalized.

The race most impacted in Dallas is the Hispanic community. Hispanics make up 43% of reported deaths and 55% of hospitalizations.

Of cases requiring hospitalization who reported employment, 78% are critical infrastructure workers.  Food industry workers make up 16% of hospitalizations, and public works employees make up 14%.

The groups still at the highest risk are people over the age of 65, and people who have underlying health conditions. However, Dallas county reports that over two-thirds of Dallas’s hospitalizations come from people under the age of 65, and around half do not have high-risk conditions.

97% of Dallas County testing is processed by independent commercial and hospital laboratories.
