The cafe’s owner,  Gerardo Barrera, asked the nonprofit that chef Diana Zamora started earlier this year in response to the pandemic, to help Oak Cliff neighbors who’ve been without power for dozens of hours in below-freezing temperatures. The cafe provided all of the groceries and staff to provide the meals.

They’re serving soup and hot chocolate at Xamán Café on Jefferson Boulevard to anyone who needs a hot meal. The nonprofit also has canned and dry goods to give away.

It’s available until sundown Tuesday, about 6 p.m., and they plan to be there the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 17, too.
