The West Oak Cliff Area Plan seeks to find a land-use vision for this anvil-shaped chunk of our neighborhood in preparation for probable future development.

Dallas City Council is expected to hold six authorized hearings on the matter, and the City of Dallas is currently gaining data based on neighbors’ input on a survey and map and comments taken during multiple public meetings.

This plan, first presented to neighbors in November, could up-zone areas near transportation hubs, such as Tyler Station, to allow for multifamily and townhomes. But it also could include plans for trails and sidewalks, bike lanes and other transportation possibilities.

In a meeting last week, several neighbors suggested that the plan is being rushed through at a time when City of Dallas employees are not allowed to hold in-person public meetings, nor so much as pass out a flyer.

While the plan does have a website, and public meetings are plentiful online, it has been criticized for a lack of outreach to neighbors who don’t have as much online access.
