Stephen Callaghan says there’s a demographic of board-gamers in Dallas who aren’t being served.
He’s banking on this hole in the retail market with The Gaming Goat, a boardgames store that opens at 336 W. Davis on Saturday.
The Winnetka Heights resident quit his job to pursue the venture.
“There are boardgames shops,” Callaghan says, but they tend to be out of the city center and have more of a backroom feel to them.
This is a front-row Bishop Arts boutique of about 600 square feet.
Callaghan says he and his wife, Isabelle, and their friends like playing boardgames, and new ones are being published all the time.
The Gaming Goat opens at 11 a.m. June 12.
